JANUARY 2008 Into the Refugee Camp located here in Eldoret, Kenya (approx 20,000 people)
A recent update of the Kenyan crisis around me seems to indicate things are getting somewhat back to normal among the locals. Yet, there are still problems. Yes, there remain those who are burning churches and houses even some missionaries here have experienced this, but it is not like it was. Overall, the Kenyan people seem to wish for peace and a place to begin again but NOW, there is threats of greater violence than before within this next week. How can those who have suffered so begin again? Only GOD! I believe that is where the people of God and missionaries must play an active part. This is the moment for great warfare from those that believe PRAYER CHANGES THINGS. I have asked myself the question, “why am I here if not to be able to begin the children’s ministry, to teach and equip others etc…. “Since the Dec. election here in Kenya, I have been unable to travel to churches, to preach outside the city, to train leaders or to begin what I thought I should do... Then I was reminded of one thing…… NOTHING TAKES GOD BY SURPRISE! So I have come to this conclusion once again… It really isn’t what I think, is it? Or what You may think? It is what God wants us to learn and to do in HIS TIMING, IN HIS WAY! It is all about OBEDIENCE! YOU have responded to the heart of this ministry, YOU have supported the efforts we have endeavored to accomplish for GOD and With a grateful heart of thanksgiving, many have been assisting during this troubled time in Kenya...So while we wait for God’s timing for the property and the Ministry Training site, I wanted to give you a list of what Freedom House Ministries is doing...Where YOUR support goes... URGENT MESSAGE FROM DR. KATHY WATSON (1/14/2008): "Many of you know I am in Kenya working as a fulltime missionary. I am based in Eldoret, Kenya where there has been much fighting, riots, burning of homes and mass killing. I am safe but as a result of this civil unrest , over 150,000 people from this city alone have fled, been burned out, have no clothing, no jobs, no money etc... A field just outside the city houses over 10,000 people, many women and children in make shift tents some 3 feet off the ground. ( made of gunny sacks)Many of the missionaries here that have remained are trying to help but WE RELY ON SUPPORT. Presently, my own support has dropped off and I am in the red but I AM ASKING FOR YOUR HELP FOR THE PEOPLE> Freedom House has been able in the last few days to only give food. Please help us help them. It is very hard to not be able to give anything. I am ministering everywhere there are people because it is impossibl;e to travel to Freedom house ministry Orphanage site. We pray to start there soon when it is safe to go but for now LET US REACH OUT TOGETHER TO HELP THE HELPLES. Over 100,000 children are without a place to go to school . No money, no papers of registration (burned up) and dispaced from their own districts. GOD help us here !! Without people from every land helping we cannot assist in the enormous task ahead and only the Lord knows what this very week will hold. All donations and gifts can be routed through the ministry online at the web page on secure pay pal. www.freedomhmin.org Please hear my heart as I like other missionariies appeal for help. We are trying to work together here, all faiths to help. WILL YOU REACH OUT TODAY? Thank you and God Bless Dr. Kathy Watson" IN THE NEWS: Story: Kathy Watson in Kenya says mission help needed now more than ever ELDORETE, Kenya - "Thirty-five years I have waited for this.
