BUILDING PROJECT

a

The original mud hut, the first church that also became a place for the children to learn was demolished in 2019 so the large educational classrooms and a small home for the Pastor could be built. The foundations were laid, walls began to go up.

Covid hit the world in 2020 stopping all building progress on the site for over three months. Somehow, little by little, we were able to finish parts of the small home even while we released all our resources into buying food for the entire village of Lela.

A miracle! Rev Beatrice moved into her home the last week of July 2020. Two rooms were completely finished. Two more rooms still need concrete walls and paint as well as furniture such as a bed and table with chairs. But she is grateful for her own place.
The home stands beside the church that was built and dedicated in 2013 by Freedom House with the great support of many like you now reading this article.

The year 2021 proved to be another milestone in this journey. Once again, awareness of funds were shared and they were provided.
We continued to feed the village through the fall of 2021. Unbelievable!

January 2022 schools opened, children returned full time, school fees were paid, uniforms bought, school supplies given and 3000 plus meals were prepared weekly. A God project continues!

We were also able to begin repairing the broken down walls of the three unfinished classrooms.By August 2022, even the roofs were finished. Our deadline had been met!

September brought the realization of another dream. A new Pre- K class began with a qualified teacher, a cook and 20 plus children.

Today, 2023 we continue to complete these large rooms. There are still great needs. Such as many bags of concrete to make good floors and smooth walls. Doors and windows are needed to keep weather out. Paint for all buildings and furniture will be last and help to do all these things. But the children sit on their small chairs around the child-size table and learn everyday.
While the building progress has gone forward and it is happening, one step at a time, many children are learning to smile, to have fun learning. They are singing, growing, eating a well balanced meal everyday and the community is being touched because someone actually cares as their children thrive.
The church is reaching out through humanitarian efforts and also in community programs, teaching and helping many to value their lives by learning skills that will help them become productive individuals. Different regular social events are also periodically provided on the church grounds such as movie night for relaxation.

Freedom House Ministries, Inc. continues this faith- walk journey in helping others see, understand and experience how valuable they truly are to God. Our purpose and vision that drives us here at Freedom House Ministries is that “His love will never fail.” Everyone has worth.

For over fourteen years we have watched lives be changed as we provided food, medical, education and life hope/ love encouragement to countless lost individuals that today, they know they have worth as God’s kids. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have ever lasting life.” John 3:16
Each one of us can make a choice to participate in what is changing lives in remote villages such as Lela and Sega, Kenya, Africa. As we share what we have, give our financial resources to help others, bountiful blessings are poured out on each of us as we participate.

Please consider this as a personal invitation from me, Dr.Kathy Watson Swift, to partner with us as we continue to move forward changing lives, one at a time! Bigger dreams require more help!
