AUGUST 2008 August 2008 Update Several things have taken place since the last news update for Freedom House Ministries, Inc. FIRST, I want to thank each of you who have continually supported the vision, purpose and plan of this ministry. As I have labored in Kenya, Zambia, Sudan and other places, it is our continued intent to serve the hurting people we come in contact with on an every day basis, especially the women and the children presently living in the African countries. There is a constant demand on each missionary here to reach out on a daily basis to those that are ever around you. Not one day passes without an opportunity to minister to many, many people!! SECOND, After three years of waiting, I finally have had the opportunity to travel to the Masaii tribe people, deep in the bush during June of this year. I truly believe this was a given, "God moment". These people not only accepted me but allowed me to actually become a part of their everyday life for nearly a week. I talked, laughed, ate and walked with them. NINE DIFFERENT TIMES, Timmy and I had ministry opportunities to share the love of Jesus. I watched as hundreds of lives were touched! BUT Two different times stand out in my mind. The first one was when I stood in the middle of the large mud building called a classroom. Huge open gaps representing windows dotted the side and no furniture only a hard packed mud floor with one old desk in the front for the teacher. Several hundreds of children crammed together, some sitting, others standing around me leaving only a small amount of space for me to stand in the middle of this large space that had become so small. As I began to share a simple story about a child that had no one to care for him, the atmosphere changed. Their eyes seemed to be glued on me as they listened to the story and looked at the pictures. I felt the Holy Spirit swoosh into the room. It was time to lead them in prayer. I watched as many bowed their heads, repeated the prayer after me and gave their hearts to the Lord. Many eyes were glistening with tears at the end of the prayer, even some of the older tribal men who had observed me. God had begun with a mighty hand. The next time would be at the end of the week. The morning I was to leave this wonderful place. The tough Warrior "Maran's" came to my tent and called for "Mama KoKo". They asked me to show them Timmy, my turtle puppet. These young men serve the entire community of the Masaii and have free access to "ALL" things, livestock, people or places. I readily said yes, but on one condition, they must jump for me. These young men can amazingly jump several feet up into the air standing completely still and I wanted to watch them. They jumped and I began. As I shared Jesus through a simple ministry tool, named "Timmy", I watched these tribal "tough guys" change into frightened little boys, then amazed and mesmerized by what they saw and heard. Only God knows the results of this moment in time but I believe, He had it all in His plan so He knows what was accomplished! PTL!! AND NOW, THIRD, The ministry sight at Jera Village is still a work in progress!! We are continuing to raise support to begin a "Feeding Program" to the children of the community, (village and surrounding lands). We are researching many avenues of help and instructions on how to start a teaching program of helps for the women of this area since there is little food and no income. There are plans to teach single mothers and widows how to be self sufficient in the future but THERE IS A GREAT NEED FOR HELP! Skills like sewing and baking breads, cakes, etc... can and will provide income for these desolate situations. If people can become learned in a skill, shown how to market the goods along with teaching how to manage the income, then the children will also be fed and cared for. Health and hygiene are other issues that will be addressed but first is getting the HOUSE up and running where all of this will begin to take place. Some funds have already been donated but there is a need for much more. Every child can be fed two times a day for only $1.00 /day. That's right $30 each month will feed one child. Once the house is remodeled and the feeding program begun, we will institute a pre-k class which will help prepare small 2-4 year olds in hygiene, educational and life learning skills that will be saturated in the love of caring Christ centered individuals. Every time I walk on these grounds at Jera Village I am surrounded with only one thought, God gave us this property to spread the gospel and help others! Won't YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN A CHILD'S LIFE TODAY? PLEDGE YOUR SUPPORT BY A MONTHLY DONATION OF just $30 or $60 for two.
